Derby Arrows formed during the
winter of 2004 and started to build plans for the purchase of an
aeroplane. Our initial hopes were high of affording complex type
single engined aircraft, but in the end we decided on a Cessna 172, not
fast but a capable aircraft that could carry heavy pilots and crew and
still manage short runways and not limit the group to taking off at East
Midlands Airport !!
A
bit about the aircraft
G-BKEV a C172M was manufactured at Reims in France
under license in 1976. It has a 150HP Lycoming engine and
cruises at about 100Kts. The aeroplane is based at Derby
Airfield and maintained by some great engineers at Airspeed
Aviation Ltd.
